Climates

Krabi is unique because the massive limestone cliffs create "shade micro-climates." In Railay, the sun disappears behind the cliffs early in the afternoon, causing a sudden 3-4°C drop in the heat index.

Rock Climbing Tip 🧗

"During the hot season (Mar-May), only climb in the early morning or on overhanging routes that stay in the shade. High humidity makes the rock 'greasy,' reducing grip significantly."

The Monsoon vs. The Emerald Coast

Krabi experiences the Southwest Monsoon from May to October. Unlike the Gulf (Samui), Krabi faces the open Andaman Sea, resulting in frequent afternoon downpours. However, these rains are what keep the Krabi jungle vibrant and the "Emerald Pool" voluminous.

Navigating the 2026 Heat Index

For 2026, April remains the peak of the heat season. With the **Heat Index** regularly breaking 44°C, it is essential to stay hydrated and avoid the midday sun. If you are doing the 1,237 steps up to the Tiger Cave Temple, we recommend a 5:30 AM start to beat the oppressive humidity.

Ready for the Krabi Coast?

Entry requirements are changing. Don't wait until you land in the Krabi heat to deal with paperwork. The **Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)** is now a mandatory digital step for all 2026 arrivals.
